Dear Sir or Madam,
There is no doubt about the fact that the world’s climate is becoming increasingly warmer: glaciers are melting, the Northwest Passage is accessible for the first time ever, drought disasters and storms of previously unknown strengths and frequency are destroying entire areas. Only an immediate U-turn in international climate policy can prevent even worse from happening. And it’s not just politicians who are responsible for bringing about this about-turn; companies in their role as corporate citizens must also get involved – all must contribute to sustainable climate protection in their particular specialist areas around the world. This in particular applies to market participants in the property sector, as properties have become the most significant producers of CO2 emissions.
Eurohypo warmly invites you to join it in discussing the opportunities and restrictions of climate protection in terms of the realisation of commercial property together with the German Federal Minister for the Environment and Nuclear Safety, Sigmar Gabriel, and other experienced contributors from business, politics and science.
Ecologically sound building and economically justifiable building go hand in hand. This can be seen with regard to the lifecycle of a property: Approximately 80% of the overall cost of a building is incurred during the operating phase, with energy consumption as one of the main cost factors. Buildings that fall short of modern standards, ecologically speaking, equate in the long term uneconomical and unsellable buildings. This applies to office complexes as well as to shopping centres, schools, town halls, court houses and other official buildings.
With its “Building Eco Value” conference, Eurohypo wants to make a contribution within its core field of competence, Commercial Real Estate, together decision makers with proven expertise and to play a part in establishing by bringing together sustainable solutions for preventing a global climate disaster.
Yours faithfully,
| Bernd Knobloch Chairman of the Management Board |
