Case history - Alexander Majonek and Ina Knobloch
With its demanding, career-focused selection procedure, Eurohypo AG left a lasting impression in our minds. In addition to economic knowledge, the aptitude test also enabled us to prove ourselves as good team players.
The overall number of trainees in the year is manageable and fosters good cooperation within the group without anyone feeling disadvantaged. As trainees, we also receive individual support from a personal mentor, who guides us through the training process.
Initiative and independent work are the key to success – that is our maxim.
Training is provided in a dual system; we complete theoretical modules on basic skills in the Berufsschule [vocational school] and practical modules on implementing our expertise in the various departments of the bank. This enables us to strengthen the theory we learn by putting it into immediate practice.
The business English course which we can attend throughout our training period is of great benefit. We can also choose another language which is relevant to the bank if we already have an excellent grasp of English. As Eurohypo AG is an internationally operating bank this option is extremely useful, particularly if we are considering a future international role.
Specialist topics are studied through the bank’s internal seminars, thereby optimally preparing us for the requirements of a specialist bank for real estate and public financing.
We are extremely pleased to have chosen the challenging and diverse bank training at Eurohypo AG.

Case history - Sandra Höhn
I applied to Eurohypo early on, as I wanted to be sure that I would be included in good time in the selection procedure, where I was also fortunately successful.
I was amazed by the selection procedure at this Bank. With all my previous interviews, the main emphasis was on the theoretical qualities of the candidate, whereas this time I was also asked about my ability to work as part of a team and my personality. This is what eventually led to me to sign the contract that was offered to me.
My choice turned out to be the right one! During my training, I have been able to work independently on many projects and my initiative has been employed in other units too.
The training plan is ideally structured for me. Attending classes, as well as working in the Bank, adds to the variety and makes the banking industry, which can sometimes be dry, more interesting.
I have been very happy with my placements so far. Not only have I learnt more about the work of Eurohypo, but I’ve also met lots of nice people in the different departments, who’ve always been prepared to answer my questions and to help me with problems.
I also like my trainee colleagues. Although we’re all completely different characters, we’ve been able to build a team that not only works well together, but also has fun.
I’ve completed my first year now and I’m excited about what the second year holds for me!

Case history - Stefan Heise
When choosing my training position, I had the opportunity to decide from various companies taking on trainees.
I decided on Eurohypo. You’re going to ask me why, aren’t you?
At that time, my main criterion was the fact that the trainee programme at Eurohypo is shorter. Usually they last three years, rather than two. The reason why is that the Abitur (A levels) counts towards the training period, which means that when you start the training, you are already in the second year of training.
During the training however, I realised that there were a lot more things going for it at Eurohypo: for instance, the close association between theory and practice. The theoretical principles are mainly conveyed in a special banking class. The knowledge we gain there can then be built upon and consolidated in practice.
As trainees, we also received individual help and support. We were each assigned to a mentor, whom we could refer to for answers to all our questions about the training and also about personal issues.
The training was complemented by internal and external seminars, a language course and the opportunity to work abroad.
If you decide to take up a trainee position with Eurohypo, you should be aware that during that time you will have very little actual client contact. Instead, you’ll receive the fundamental and essential knowledge needed to become a bank clerk.
As a trainee at Eurohypo, you’ll also get a constant insight into the common financial instruments currently available.
Finally, it has to be said that the training to become a bank clerk at Eurohypo is one of the best in Germany, due to its variety and its high training aims.
That’s why I can recommend anyone looking for proven training to consider Eurohypo seriously when looking for a trainee position.
